life's a game: the situationists

Discussion 2: "Life's a Game: The Situationists"

In a series called: "Art and Revolution"

At Grey Area 31 Queens Road Brighton (under money shop)
7.30pm to 9.00pm Friday 16th March 2007

A mug will be held by the person speaking so that only one individual talks at a time. Initially this will be held by the chairperson who will introduce the discussion. On agreement with the others the mug may be handed back to the same participant again.

Ideally read "The Society of The Spectacle" which will form the basis for the discussion which is attached or can be found at:

Sorry, so sorry to those who had to be turned away. The initial points around the, essentially fundamentalist Marxist, suggestion that in fact “monopoly is the transition from capitalism to a higher system” proved stimulating, provoked a mighty debate which continued for thirty minutes and involved eighteen of the thirty three who were present. In total twenty two individuals contributed. The Situationist Game, walking, strolling, mixing, making spectacles out of spectacles, perspiration, conspiracy theories, jolly butchers, red knows, Vacuum, sperm in a gallery were some of the topics covered. Why this should be in a gallery at all I don’t know. Thanks Alice for your comments on the edge.
