Gravitational Lensing

GRAVITATIONAL LENSING

A solo show by Josh Uvieghara

9th – 24th June, Thurs – Sun, 1 – 5pm

PV Friday 8th June, 7-9pm

Informed by the scientific theory of Gravitational Lensing; a study of light bending due to the gravitational pull of matter, this solo show embraces the diagrammatic compositions and situations involved in the processes of painting.

Poured and spread paint envelops the works, including objects such as coaxial cable and neon lighting, creating a dynamic fusion of suspended motion combined with controlled and chance encounters.

'Movement has an essential relation to the imperceptible; it is by nature imperceptible, perception can grasp movement only as the displacement of a moving body or the development of a form.'

Giles Deleuze, Felix Guattari, A Thousand Plateaus; Capitalism & Schizophrenia
