Smell Sound of Forensic Y's
Crank Sturgeon, id M Theftable and Fritz Welch
Exhibition: 12th November - 4th December
Open: Friday - Sunday, 1-5pm ... PV: Friday 11th November, 4pm
Crank Sturgeon, id M Theftable and Fritz Welch will come together at Grey Area as part of Colour Out of Space festival for a collaborative exhibition reaching towards unprecedented putrefaction and symbiosis. They will utilise strategies borrowed from durational aesthetics and underwater pipefitting to filter through an array of retrofitted haints, popular excrement and shy pollution. They will combine drawing, collage and video into a tumbling multi-dimensional representation of their jet-lagged socks.
Colour Out of Space is an experimental music festival based in Brighton and run annually in November since 2006. Now in its 5th year, the festival boasts an eclectic mix of some of the most inspirational and innovative musicians, artists and filmmakers who will show their work and perform across Brighton during the three days that Colour Out of Space runs. Lead by Open Music, a not-for-profit Brighton based arts group, and coordinated by Dylan Nyoukis, Karen Constance and Michael Sippings, Colour Out of Space reaches out to the far corners of the experimental music genre.
Grey Area is an independent artist-run gallery in the centre of Brighton. Established in a dilapidated basement in March 2006, Grey Area has become a platform for experimental contemporary art events in an idiosyncratic non-sterile project space.
